Informal meeting of European Council today

Today, 12 February, an informal European Council meeting is taking place in Brussels, at which the Heads of State and Government of the EU Member States discuss the fight against terrorism, the situation in Ukraine, relations with Russia, the Economic, Monetary Union and, of course, Greece. European leaders will prepare a joint statement on political guidelines in the fight against terrorism. They should also exchange views on how to improve the coordination of economic policies within the economic and monetary union. Meeting will be attended by the President of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi and Eurogroup chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem. They will present the procedural aspects of the rules relating to Greece within the Eurogroup. At the European Council meeting will, for the first time, participate President of the Greek Government, Alexis Cipras.
